FAQ

MAKEUP ACADEMY

Where are the courses held?

The courses are held at my studio, located at 32 Jamieson street, Gardens.

What various courses do you offer?

We offer the following courses:

  • Beginners course (10 days)
  • Evening part time course (1 month)
  • Short course (5 days)
  • Long weekend express course (4 days)
  • Weekend course (8 days)

For more information about the courses visit our Makeup Academy page where you can also download a detailed course breakdown for each.

Which is the most suitable course for me?

This depends on your availability and budget. Contact me for a consultation and together we can find the right course for you!

How do I know when the next course starts and what dates it will run between?

Contact me for more information regarding dates and availability.

Is makeup usage included in the courses?

Yes, all courses cover the cost of the makeup used in training. However, you must have your own set of brushes (beauty blender if needed) alternatively you can also buy these from us at an additional cost. We occasionally run promotion which include a professional set of brushes included in the offer.

What is the difference between the certificate and the diploma awarded in some courses?

The certificate is given on completion of any course, while the diploma is awarded on successful completion of an examination, which only certain courses have. While you can still apply for product discounts and positions with both, a professional portfolio is still required (which we help you start building).

Can I work professionally after I complete any of the courses?

Yes, you are able to apply for professional positions with either our certificate or diploma, however a professional portfolio is still required (which we help you start building).

Is experience in the beauty industry required before attending any of the courses?

Not at all! Each course has been carefully designed to suit everybody at any skill level.

Must I find my own models to practice on?

No, we provide every student with a model to work with. However, if you would like to bring along your own model, you’re of course more than welcome to, please just let us know up front so that we can organise accordingly.

What if the model doesn't show up for the practical?

Unfortunately, this sometimes happens and although we can’t be held responsible for the punctuality or attendance of every model, we certainly will endeavour to find another suitable time to accommodate your practical.

How do I guarantee a spot for the Makeup Academy?

We operate on a first come first serve basis so if you would like to attend a course, please ensure your 50% deposit payment is paid on time. The remaining balance is to be paid on or before commencement of the course.

Can I bring a friend to the class?

Friends, family, children or models are not allowed to be present during classes unless they are modeling for a student at the time.

Can I still attend a course if I'm under the age of 18?

Yes you most certainly can, however we do require the permission and signature of your legal guardian on the application form provided.

Are the course fees refundable?

Course fees are non-refundable. Should students be unable to attend the course booked for or a specific class within the course, they may attend a course or class at a later stage, subject to availability

How can I get a makeup diploma?

Diplomas are awarded to students on successful completion of the final exam. However, not all courses have exams included, which provide certificates of attendance instead.

What must I wear during the course?

Students should wear comfortable clothes and shoes.

What is included in the course?

A makeup handbook, usage of various international makeup brands and materials and individualised attention. Some courses also include a photoshoot with a professional photographer (for example during the exam), and after the course you will be invited to join me at a wedding or photoshoot (depending on availability).

What must I bring with me to the course?

Cotton buds, cotton discs, makeup remover, a professional set of brushes and beauty blender if needed (some of the courses include these, alternatively can be bought from us at an additional fee), a hand-towel for working surface, drinking water for yourself and lastly, a positive attitude!
